Changes to Flexible Working Requests – April 2024

There are lots of changes to Employment law this April 2024 and changes to Flexible Working Requests is just one of them.

  • New changes to Flexible Working requests:
  • Employees now have a right to request to make a flexible working request from day 1 of employment
  • Employers will have to consult with the employee on alternatives before refusing their request
  • Employees can make two requests in any 12 month period
  • The time for Employers to deal with the request, including appeal, is 2 months
  • Employees will no longer be required to set out the effect their requested arrangement will have on the business, nor suggest ways their employer can manage it.

So if you haven’t updated your Employee Handbook in months…. or even years? – now is the time to do this. We can help you with a new policy and guidance with writing letters to staff.
